PMINAC seeks six Board of Directors to progress its programs. Biography and Election Statement for candidates of the positions open for election for the 2017-2019 Board of Directors are posted below:

Bilal Abukhodair

Board Position

VP Volunteers

 

Biography:

Bilal Abukhodair is a seasoned project manager graduated as an Electrical Engineer from Minnesota State University with over than 20+ years of experience, locally and internationally, supporting the Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Installation, and Operations of projects in various industries. He holds PMP certification since Feb 2010, Bilal presently working as a Project Manager with WAJAX Power Systems, one of Canada’s largest heavy-duty Detroit diesel engine, Allison transmission, and power generation systems distributor, responsible for directing and managing industrial power generation projects that range in size from $500K - $10M, Bilal Consistently, in all of his roles have contributed to the bottom line profitability of the company. He has been actively volunteering with PMINAC since 2014 with different roles starting as Dinner meeting registration assistant to seminar director and currently serving as the VP volunteers.

Election Statement:

I want to thank you for the careful consideration of my candidacy to the PMINAC Board , I am currently serving as the VP volunteers and would like to run for a second term to continue the volunteers programs we started 2 years ago. I am willing to dedicate my best efforts to continue serving as a member of the PMINAC Board of Directors for a second term, to enhance the Board’s ability to oversee and direct the affairs and business of the Northern Alberta chapter.

I am a PMI member in good standing since 2005. I am a certified PMP and PMI-RMP with over 35 years of progressive experience in engineering and project management. I have He successfully developed and executed many complex projects from concept to completion in Canada, Qatar, Oman and India

I possess necessary leadership skills, PM skills, Coaching skills thru education and practice.  I enhanced my personal and technical skills thru PM education and certification. My objective in applying for this position is to promote PMI certifications and promote chapter activities

Board Position

VP Professional Development

Biography:

I am an Electrical and Electronics Engineer with newly acquired Executive MBA from UofA Business school. I have 20+ years of total working experience in different positions and organizations. I have my PMP and ITIL certifications in good standing. I bring in a mix of Technical & Management leadership into the chapter. I am also completing my Executive MBA from University of Alberta. Also I was awarded the Associate PM accreditation for the project successes and for providing exemplary leadership. I am a perfect planner and executor of the project risk plans. As a people person, I have excellent people management skills. I have helped to create high performing teams in my organizations. My communication skills, both verbal and written, with technical skills have proved to build vital relationships for new businesses. I have excellent interpersonal, business and time management skills and is result oriented.

Election Statement:

I Dhinesh K Ramasamy will devote time and energy as a Board member for the Chapter members professional Development. I will introduce new measures for development of PMPs to PgMP/Portfolio MP and ahead. I myself keep updated with new technology and new methodology. I will encourage chapter members to actively participate and share their knowledge for developing members. I will organize new workshops and tie up with educational institutions for professional development. While doing this, I will adhere to the chapter bylaws and to the PMI’s regulations. I will attend and contribute to the chapter in all the board meetings. My aim is to get the maximum PMPs in our chapter in our zone in 2 years.

Patrick Ng

Board Position

VP Marketing

Biography:

Patrick is “more than meets the eye” with his interesting career pathway in diverse professional fields. He graduated 3 times from the University of Alberta, with degrees in Pharmacy, Commerce, & MBA. Moreover, he received his ESL teaching certificate, and went study abroad in Europe, Mainland China, and South Korea. With such abundant education, he held various positions during his career, including pharmacy manager, project lead, business consultant, & ESL instructor overseas, etc. During his MBA program, he took a course in project management, and that sparked his interest in the field, so much so that he became involved with PMINAC as Breakfast Director in 2015 & VP Marketing for board year 2016-2017. His past projects included publishing an MBA business case with team effort on the topic of corporate social responsibility, & co-authoring 2 books in real estate investment & property management.

Election Statement:

As current VP Marketing of the chapter, I have experienced firsthand the professionalism & wealth of knowledge within PMINAC, & I am fortunate enough to work with a dedicated team who strives to provide its members valuable activities/events that can enhance their personal & professional development. During my tenure, the marketing portfolio has made successful progress in establishing new connections with MacEwan University & engaging with our long-time sponsors for their continuous supports. My vision for PMINAC has always remained the same, which is to promote the chapter as a professional organization, now just with body of knowledge, but also with many friendly & helpful people, which will make it THE COMMUNITY for all members to connect. I am happy & excited to form partnership with MacEwan University because early exposure of the chapter to younger professionals conduces to more engagement & involvement from students with passion & energy, and this in turn could help foster future leadership for PMINAC. Bakhtawar Pastakia

Board Position

President Elect

Biography:

Bakhtawar Pastakia, has served as VP Certification, Director Certification and PMP Exam Prep for a total of 6 years. With a Masters’ in Business Administration and PMP, her experience of over 12 years’ pans across in Mumbai, Toronto and Edmonton. Bakhtawar is an entrepreneur, owns and manages a global certification training platform – PMIntegrated, which powers performance, profitability, & productivity within organizations and individuals. Bakhtawar also volunteers in 2 different positions at the board of International Federation of Green Info & Comm Technology. Previously, Bakhtawar has held strategic roles and specializes in setting up new business for large corporations in the financial services industry. Her very supportive husband and 2 boys like outdoor family fun time in all seasons. Bakhtawar is passionate about volunteering, ongoing education and professional development.

Election Statement:

 Having served on the board as VP Certification for the past 2 years and volunteered with the Chapter for 6 years, I look forward to stepping up into the leadership role at PMINAC. Volunteering for all these years has given me a holistic view of our Chapter. I have been a core team member in various strategic initiatives our Chapter has embarked upon and am aware of the challenges we face. I fully understand the responsibilities of the role and can apply my skills as an entrepreneur to take the Chapter to the next level of engagement with the members. Financial management, risk management, decision making and team building will be crucial in leading a highly efficient board. The key indicator for a successful chapter is the engagement and professional development of our members and project management community at large. Our vast and dispersed membership makes this goal challenging. If elected to serve the members, my focus would be on member engagement and participation across Northern Alberta & NWT. I would also like to see corporate Alberta more involved with the Chapter to promote the profession. My experience with multicultural teams and all levels of management gives me a solid base to serve the members of our Chapter. I would like to leverage my professional knowhow and communication skills to help further the strategic goals for PMINAC. Lorna L. Lowery

VP Programs

Biography:

Lorna is a highly experienced Project Manager and Management Consultant with over 25 years of experience. A PMINAC volunteer for over 3 years with the Programs team and currently as the Programs Dinner Director since 2013 and is an active member with ISACA, CMC and AIIM.     In recent years, main focus is on assisting business executives to achieve new strategies for shared services, enterprise applications through systems planning to implementation. Facilitating process improvements and relationships for customers and vendors.  Risk and issue management, negotiation and conflict resolution, change management, financial management (forecast, supplier, budget) ,quality management, service level agreements and performance metrics, and supplier and vendor management.   Managing supplier IT teams that include PMO management to develop corporate project management policies, strategies and processes, product management, system development team management, architectural and operational teams as well as transition to maintenance operations. Teams and projects managed range from small to multi-year multi-million dollar complex initiatives for both private and government agencies.        Lorna is a passionate, energetic and goal orientated person who inspires people and believes in building and facilitating relationships to build high performance teams and producing quality products and solutions.

Election Statement:

As the current VP Programs  for the past 2 years (2015-2017) and Dinner Director for the 2 prior (2013-2015) I have had the pleasure of working with all the current board members  who have provided me the direction, knowledge and confidence to be responsible and accountable to the PMINAC Chapter as the VP Programs. As a long standing member of PMI since 1997 I received my PMP certification through PMINAC.  My professional experience of building successful teams and contributions to teams including PMINAC Programs team I would like to continue to support PMINAC as VP Programs to continue the work of my predecessors.

 

All positions take effect July 1, 2017 and are two year terms, except the VP Professional Development and the President Elect. The President Elect position is a one year term with subsequent one year terms as President and as Past President, for a total of three years.

 

Election: May 10, 2017 (PMINAC Annual General Meeting)
